The Dovbush Dancers

The Dovbush Dancers are a highly trained Ukrainian Folk-Stage dance ensemble who takes its name from Oleksa Dovbush, the folk hero who was born in 1700 in the Carpathian Mountains. This young and vibrant group embraces the significant place that song and dance hold in Ukrainian tradition, performing dances from many of the vast regions of Ukraine. The group operates under the auspices of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians, an organization which for 85 years has been an integral part of the Ukrainian community in Vancouver. Dovbush consists of approximately twenty dancers aged 15-36, and the company has built an outstanding reputation for excellence and authenticity, performing at festivals, community events and competitions.

Dovbush Dancers, (acceptance by audition only) provides many opportunities to expand and perfect a dancer's technique and study of the art of dance: workshops with renowned guest instructors, classical barre and centre work, character technique and training and choreography.

Rehearsals are held Mondays and Fridays from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.

Coasting Along Theatre Society

The Coasting Along Theatre Society is dedicated to offer the communities of the Sunshine Coast full length professionally produced ballets from the classical and contemporary repertoire. These will be on an annual basis starting with the perennial family favorite The Nutcracker.

In addition to this we will add other popular works during the year with some designed to travel. These will be vehicles that will enhance the development of our local aspiring artists by working under the guidance of professional directors and choreographers and alongside visiting guest artists.

It is our desire to further enrich a thriving theatre scene, for residence and visitors alike.
